Hotel Natura**** in Rogla and Hotel Atrij**** Superior in Terme Zreče have become the proud owners of the EU Ecolabel, the international environmental label for tourist accommodation.
In Rogla and Terme Zreče we get our inspiration for development from natural features and so as to introduce improvements that are desired and required by the modern tourist, certain impacts on the natural environment are required. However, we are highly aware of the exceptional importance of sustainable actions and responsible tourism, which in its essence focuses its attention on the conservation of natural heritage.
We firmly believe in the importance of harmonised sustainable actions of all stakeholders in the local environment and beyond and have already initiated the design and introduction of two sustainable projects.
The first is the design and introduction of the “Tastes of Rogla” brand, whose superior quality and diversity raises not only the quality of our guests’ and visitors’ leisure time but also contributes to a higher quality of life for local residents. The connections between local providers of catering services and producers of agricultural and food products enable guests and visitors to enjoy traditional dishes which are distinguished by local production, short purchasing paths, and exceptional taste.
The second is the setting up of the Pohorje Nature Conservation Fund, which is committed to respecting the natural and cultural values of Pohorje and to dedicating its time and efforts to nature conservation and awareness raising. The expert support provided by competent institutions such as the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation, the inclusion of the local community, i.e. the Municipality of Zreče, and the sense of responsibility of the tourism economy, i.e. Unior with its tourism programme, as the largest provider of tourist services in the destination, provide assurance that the green Pohorje hills will continue to enthral and inspire guests, visitors, and local residents alike.
We see the newly acquired EU Ecolabels for Hotel Natura**** in Rogla and Hotel Atrij**** Superior in Terme Zreče as a huge responsibility and an expression of our commitment to a healthy and active lifestyle, which we live and offer in our centres, to preserving the natural and cultural heritage, and to nature conservation in general.
