Team Sky, Trek-Segafredo, the Quick-Step Floors Cycling Team and the Movistar Team - all of these top biking teams that have worked out the outcome of the just-finished French loop have something in common. All of these teams have won at least one milestone victory and the fact that their mechanics use Slovenian tools from Zreče.
Unior continues to expand its programme of specialised bicycle tools, while working even more closely with teams from the prestigious World Tour series. In cooperation with Team Sky, this year they presented the final version of the specially-created stand for the servicing of road bikes, which the famous team has used and tested for the past two years. The stand is a result of the close cooperation of Unior's development engineers and Sky’s mechanics, and will be available to all cyclists this August. Unior equipped the parent mechanical workshops of all four mentioned teams, using tools, panels and drawers, all done with Styrian hands and machines.
Unior's factory mountain biking team Unior Tools Team has acquired a new partner and a new name in 2018 - after the merger of the factory competition programme with the Canadian wheel manufacturer Devinci, the team is now called Unior / Devinci Factory Racing. The team now races in the enduro discipline and is thus present in top-level competitions in all major mountain biking events, where successes are definitely not left out. This year, Unior was already on the winning stage of the World Cup.
In addition to racing, the key project for the past two years has been the release of two extensive bicycle service manuals - together they compose over 650 pages of image and text instructions for all bike and equipment standards. The manuals were published in English and French, and translations are also being prepared for other world languages. The manuals are an important link for cooperation with schools for cycling mechanics. Unior is the official partner of more than twenty schools from all over the world, from Canada, Belgium, France to China and India.
In 2015, Unior also closed a deal with the leading American manufacturer of bicycles, Trek Bicycle and became the main supplier of tools and workshop equipment for the Trek Certified Service project, which sets new standards for the bicycle service.
It is the combination of high quality and innovative bicycle tools and a very wide selection of workshop equipment from Unior's catalogue, which puts Unior ahead of the competition, since such an assortment makes it possible to set up whole concepts of workshops rather than just offering individual tools.
The United States market is very special for Unior. The largest competitor in the field of bicycle tools created a trademark "blue bicycle tool" in this market in 2008 and protected the colour for the tool that is related to bicycle service. The sale of any specially-created bicycle tools in blue - for which, of course, the tools from Zreče are known - is forbidden. That is why Unior entered this big and leading cycling market with red and orange coloured tools and the responses of customers have been extremely positive.
Partners of Unior's bicycle programme are Giant, Decathlon, SRAM, Shimano and other prestigious cycling industry companies. Unior’s programme of cycling tools includes over 400 specific, high quality tools, developed and manufactured in Slovenia, and is available in over 60 countries of the world.
